Sydney Rutherford – OWSL Soccer

Sports Mentor
If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. – Wayne Dyer

Recently home after six years in the United States, Sydney (aka “Syd”) is ready to share her firsthand experience and knowledge as an NCAA student-athlete. Upon Sydney’s initial soccer scholarship, she began her U.S. journey at Harcum College (Pennsylvania) migrating to Post University (Connecticut) a D2 four-year program. Introduced to soccer at a young age Sydney shifted from house to rep league early where skill development and game awareness were foundational. Compulsory with rep play Sydney’s clubs valued participation in select U.S. tournaments unveiling boundless possibilities early in her soccer trajectory.

Some of the Ontario clubs Syd played with prior to going state-side at the age of 17 included Richmond Hill Raiders, Brampton Rams and North Mississauga. Additionally, accepted to Bill Crothers SS and a “Colt” athlete, Sydney was a key performer during her four years with the girl’s competitive flag football team. Leading by example whether in the form of encouraging and uplifting words, actively listening or sharing advice, Sydney throughout the arc of her athletic pursuits was a trusted confidant to her fellow teammates. During her time in the U.S. Sydney attained her Associate’s Degree in Marketing, completed her Bachelor studies in Sports Management, Management, Business Administration as well as an MBA with a concentration in Leadership.

Present-day Sydney is a coach with “Soccer Shots” and “Challenger Sports” while actively playing within the OWSL (“Ontario Women’s Soccer League”).
