Maria Procopio – Gannon University Soccer

Sports Mentor
“Performance starts here.” As an athlete turned coach I was in your shoes once, happy to be of assistance in your soccer journey.

Before becoming a coach, Maria was an avid soccer player. She started her career with Vaughan Soccer Club where her team led the club to Ontario cup championships, tons of tournament championships and more. She showed promise as a young player and was even given the opportunity to train with the Italian National program at the age of 14. Her career there includes four international caps with the U19 Italian National Team and playing with various Italian Professional clubs.

Ultimately, her career brought her to Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she had the opportunity to play Division 2 in the NCAA. Maria also visited over 12 universities from D1-JUCo schools, but felt Gannon was the right fit. Upon leaving Gannon University due to injury, she realized her passion for coaching and moved to England to pursue her UEFA qualifications. After a year abroad, she returned as one of the highest qualified female coaches in all of Canada. Maria also now helps athletes peruse scholarships or pro-opportunities and keep playing soccer after high school
