Angelika Mihalopulos – FC London Soccer

Sports Mentor
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always have what you always had.

I grew up in London, Ontario, with a lifelong passion for sports, particularly soccer, which I have been playing for 28 years. In my youth years I played for local teams in leagues both in and around the province as well as Team Ontario in the Provincial Development Program. I pursued my post-secondary education in kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, where I represented the university soccer team. We achieved multiple Provincial Championships, as well as a National Championship, earning a First Team All-Star award. I was also deemed UWO Women’s Soccer Player of the Year.

Following the completion of my university degree, I decided to travel to Europe to continue to chase my passion for the sport. I joined Athlitiki Enosi Larissa FC in the Greek Women’s Super League, which was a valuable athletic and life experience. Upon returning to Canada, I joined FC London in League 1 Ontario, the highest level of women’s soccer in Ontario/Canada. That same year I attended Fanshawe College, where our team won a Provincial Championship, which advanced us to the CCAA National Championship, where I was honoured with a Tournament All-Star award. The following year I was given the opportunity to work in Fanshawe College’s Athletics Department overseeing and managing five of the sport programs.

After three years with FC London and one league title, I moved to Peterborough to be part of a new club in the league, Electric City FC. Not only did I have the opportunity to play for the club, but also had a dual role as an Operations Assistant within the club. After two years with Electric City FC, I made the move to Guelph United where I am currently playing. Along with playing, I pursued multiple opportunities to apply my knowledge of the game in a coaching role. I fell in love with soccer at a young age playing in the backyard with family and friends, and to be able to pass on not only the knowledge I have, but also my love and passion for soccer is a rewarding position to be in and I hope to continue to be able to do so.

My journey has not been without obstacles, but the places sports have taken me, the people I have met through it, and the opportunities I have had, have helped shape me into the person I am today. I’ve always been passionate about helping others, and through my experiences I hope to help guide and support other athletes to navigate through their own athletic journeys.
