Derek Farace – Australian Professional Hockey

Sports Mentor
If something was impossible, the phrase anything is possible would simply would not exist.

My name is Derek Farace. I was born in Toronto but grew up in Orangeville. I started skating when I was two and have been in love with hockey ever since. I played up an age at 5, then proceeded to win OHMA silver in my first year of rep. Being on the smaller size put me at a disadvantage, as I was cut and had to filter around lower level teams for most of my youth. I had to overcome that stigma of not playing for the higher leagues to give myself a chance, which was an endeavor I do not wish on anyone. Finally hitting my growth spurt, the late bloomer went on to McMaster.

From there I played mainly wing/center pro in the states. I then got the tremendous opportunity to play in Australia. Finally ending up in senior A, which I still skate for.

Attended McMaster for a degree in English. I have gone on to be a development/Head Coach for multiple different programs and teams. Working for Top Hockey, Hockey Tier One, Instructor for Paramount ice.
